Acapulco, Mexico (SportsNetwork.com) - Fourth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov outlasted fifth-seeded Kevin Anderson on Saturday to claim the title at the $1.309 million Mexican Open.
Dimitrov downed Anderson 7-6 (7-1), 3-6, 7-6 (7-5) in a match that lasted just under three hours on the red clay at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess.
The 22-year-old Bulgarian grabbed his second career ATP title, with his first coming in 2013 at Stockholm. He also improved to 4-1 in head-to-head matchups with his South African counterpart.
Anderson, 27, lost his fifth consecutive ATP World Tour final. He was the runner-up in last week's tournament in Delray Beach and hasn't won a title since claiming his second career crown at Delray Beach in 2012.
