Doha, Qatar (SportsNetwork.com) - Australian Open champion Li Na, second seed Agnieszka Radwanska and former Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova were among Wednesday's second-round winners at the $2.44 million Qatar Open.

Playing her first tennis since capturing her second Grand Slam title last month, the top-seeded world No. 3 Chinese star Li got past Slovakian Magdalena Rybarikova 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, while the Polish Radwanska rolled past Romanian Sorana Cirstea 7-5, 6-0, and the third-seeded Czech Kvitova snuck past 33- year-old former world No. 1 American Venus Williams 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (9-7) on the hardcourts at Khalifa International Tennis Complex.

Another former No. 1 was shown the door on Day 3, as Belgian Yanina Wickmayer upended eighth-seeded Danish star Caroline Wozniacki, 6-4, 7-5.

In some other action involving seeds, No. 4 former French Open runner-up Sara Errani subdued Taipei's Su-Wei Hsieh 6-0, 6-4; No. 5 former top-ranked Serb Jelena Jankovic drubbed Italian Karin Knapp 6-0, 6-2; No. 6 German Angelique Kerber beat Czech Karolina Pliskova 7-6 (7-2), 6-4; No. 7 Simona Halep snuck past Estonian Kaia Kanepi 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5); and Czech Klara Zakopalova upended No. 9 and another former top-ranked Serb, Ana Ivanovic, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Former world No. 1s were a disappointing 1-3 on Wednesday.

Another upset came when Slovak Jana Cepelova took down 12th-seeded former U.S. Open champ Sam Stosur 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.

This week's top-eight seeds all received opening-round byes.

Also on Day 3, Czech qualifier Petra Cetkovska held off Chinese Zhang Shuai 6-3, 4-6, 6-3; Romanian Monica Niculescu got past American Bethanie Mattek- Sands 6-1, 3-6, 6-3; Czech Lucie Safarova edged out Chinese Peng Shuai, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4; Croatian qualifier Mirjana Lucic-Baroni routed Russian and recent Paris Open champion Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-4, 6-1; Russian wild card Alisa Kleybanova whipped Swiss Stefanie Voegele 6-3, 6-2; and German Annika Beck fought back to best Bulgarian qualifier Tsvetana Pironkova 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 6-2.

The third round will be staged on Thursday, including matches between Li and Cetkovska, Radwanska and Lucic-Baroni, and Kvitova and Safarova.
