Shock hire Fred Williams as coach

Tulsa, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tulsa Shock have hired Fred Williams as their new head coach.

Williams led the Atlanta Dream to the WNBA Finals this past season, but his contract as coach was not renewed.

He takes over for Gary Kloppenburg, who was fired Oct. 15 after going 20-49 in two seasons as coach of the Shock.

Williams was 24-20 during the regular season as Atlanta's coach. The Dream were swept in the Finals by Minnesota for the second time in three seasons.
