Anthony McDonald scored 17 points as Mississippi Valley State defeated Southern University, 72-64, on Wednesday night in a game that was rescheduled due to a bomb threat at MVSU's Itta Bena campus last Thursday.

Julius Francis and Blake Ralling each added 14 points for the Delta Devils (5-13, 1-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference). James Currington scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds.

MVSU beat the Jaguars in rebounding, 36-28. The Delta Devils hit 60.7 percent from the field in the first period but only 25 percent in the second for 44.2 percent overall.

MVSU had a 46-31 lead at the break. But the Jaguars closed in during the second period to tie the game twice only to fade in the last two minutes as MVSU went 6-0 to finish.

Calvin Godfrey paced the Jaguars (9-10, 5-1) with 21 points. This was the first conference loss of the season for Southern.
