Melbourne, Australia (SportsNetwork.com) - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga beat Brazilian qualifier Thomaz Bellucci in straight sets in the second round of the Australian Open.

The 10th-seeded Frenchman began Thursday's match under the sun and finished it with a roof over the court at Hisense Arena while prevailing 7-6 (8-6), 6-4, 6-4.

The Grand Slam's extreme heat rule was put into effect during the match when the temperature exceeded 108 degrees.

Under the policy, the roofs at Rod Laver Arena and Hisense Arena were closed and action on the outside courts was suspended. Play is not expected to resume until at least 5 p.m. local time.

Japan's Kei Nishikori also advanced to the third round on Day 4. The 16th seed handled Serbian Dusan Lajovic 6-1, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) prior to the suspension of play on the outside courts.
