Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Calgary Flames acquired forward Kevin Westgarth from the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday in exchange for forward Greg Nemisz.

Westgarth is in his fifth NHL season and has appeared in 12 games for the Hurricanes this season without recording a point.

The 29-year-old right wing has totaled three goals and six assists over 133 career games with Los Angeles and Carolina.

Nemisz has spent the first 32 games of this season at Abbotsford of the American Hockey League, racking up five goals and four assists.

A first-round pick (25th overall) of the Flames in 2008, the 23-year-old Nemisz has notched one assist in 15 games for Calgary since making his NHL debut on Mar. 23, 2011.
