Vanderbilt quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels will not play in the BBVA Compass Bowl on Jan. 4 after having surgery to repair a torn ACL.

Vanderbilt coach James Franklin made the announcement Monday, adding that Carta-Samuels tore his ACL against Georgia on Oct. 19. Carta-Samuels had surgery to repair his knee shortly after the regular season ended.

Carta-Samuels only missed two games due to the injury. He threw for 2,268 yards with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions this season.

Redshirt freshman Patton Robinette will start against Houston in the BBVA Compass Bowl.
