Valparaiso, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Former Lehigh University offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Dave Cecchini will be introduced as the new head football coach at Valparaiso on Wednesday, athletics director Mark LaBarbera announced.

Cecchini replaces Dale Carlson, who was fired Nov. 10 after the team's 72-12 loss at Butler. The Crusaders had a 1-9 overall record when Carlson was fired and replaced by Mike Gravier, who finished the season as interim coach.

The Crusaders, from the non-scholarship Pioneer Football League, are a combined 4-51 over the past five seasons.

"I'm beyond excited about the opportunity that has been provided to me by Mark LaBarbera and President (Mark) Heckler," Cecchini said. "It's humbling to be brought in and shown the vision for this university, and to then be included in it."

Cecchini recently completed the fourth season of his second stint with Lehigh's nationally ranked program. He spent nine seasons in his first stint at the Patriot League school, including two as assistant head coach

He also has been an offensive coordinator at Harvard and The Citadel.
