Jesse Reed scored 20 points and John Schoof had 18 as American University spoiled the home opener for St. Francis (Pa) in a big way with a 75-43 win on Saturday.

The Eagles (2-4) were trailing 8-7 when Reed fueled a 22-5 run with nine points. He also had a couple of steals and an assist as American broke the game open. Tony Wroblicky added 12 points, Darius Gardner had eight assists and Kyle Kager had seven rebounds.

Stephon Mosley came off the bench to score 12 for the Red Flash (1-6), all on 3-pointers. St. Francis shot just 31 percent — compared to American's 54 percent — and was out-rebounded 42-20.

American led 33-20 at the half and scored the first five points of the second half, turning that into a 14-2 run and the rout was on.
