Burrus leads Liberty in 2nd-half comeback, 62-58 over Sam Houston

Antwan Burrus shot 63.6 percent from the field and led Liberty in a second-half comeback and 62-58 victory over Sam Houston Saturday in the championship of the Corpus Christi Classic.

Burrus sparked a 15-5 rally in the second half after scoring five-straight points for the Flames (3-5), which gave them their first lead of the game. He finished with 15 points. Liberty outscored Sam Houston by 13 points in the second half.

The Bearkats (5-3) held a 9-point lead at the break after making 12 of 12 from the line in the first half and starting the game with eight uncontested points. They dropped down to 72 percent (18 of 25) from the line in the final 20 minutes.

James Thomas led Sam Houston with 10 points after he shot 2 of 7 from the field but made 6 of 9 free throws.
