Drew Reed threw for three touchdowns and had plenty of help as Lafayette won its first Patriot League title and FCS playoff berth since 2006 with a surprisingly easy 50-28 win over Lehigh on Saturday.

Reed, a freshman, completed 20 of 27 passes for a career-high 378 yards. Mark Ross and Demetrius Dixon each had a touchdown among their six receptions for 127 and 107 yards respectively. Ross Scheuerman ran for 106 yards and two touchdowns.

Ross and Scheuerman both surpassed 1,000 yards for the season, the second for Ross.

But it was the defense for the Leopards (5-6, 4-1) that made a difference in the winner-take-all game that ended a five-game losing streak in the country's longest-running rivalry.

The Mountain Hawks (8-3, 3-2) only had 307 yards and had three turnovers. Keith Sherman ran for 141 yards and a touchdown.
