Ajaccio, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Marseille earned its second consecutive victory in league play on Friday after easing to a 3-1 result over Ajaccio at the Stade Francois Coty.

Coming off a 2-1 victory over Sochaux on Nov. 10, the visitors had the better of the play in the early stages and opened the scoring in the 27th minute after Dimitri Payet found the back of the net.

But Ajaccio had an answer just four minutes later when Grenddy Perozo netted an equalizer when he got on the end of a free kick from Johan Cavalli and nodded it into the bottom left corner of the net.

Eight minutes later, however, Marseille reclaimed the advantage when Kassim Abdallah whipped a cross into the penalty area that was fired home by Andre- Pierre Gignac.

After the intermission, Marseille maintained firm control of the match as the club held Ajaccio to just one shot on target and put the result away in the 58th minute when Payet sent a cross into the box where Florian Thauvin ripped it past goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

The result lifts Marseille to fourth place in Ligue 1 on 24 points, while Ajaccio remains in 19th place on eight points, three adrift from safety.
