Stewart-Haas, Roush Fenway make changes to teams for 2014

Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Both Stewart-Haas Racing and Roush Fenway Racing announced multiple personnel changes in their competition departments for the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series seasons.

SHR named Chad Johnston as the crew chief for Tony Stewart's No. 14 team. Johnston served as crew chief for Martin Truex Jr.'s No. 56 team at Michael Waltrip Racing during the 2012 and '13 Sprint Cup seasons. He is replacing Steve Addington, who has left SHR. Addington had guided Stewart's efforts since the start of the '12 season.

Greg Zipadelli was named vice president of competition at SHR. Zipadelli will manage all four of its Sprint Cup teams. Matt Borland was elevated to vice president of engineering. Borland had been the crew chief for SHR's No. 39 car, which was driven by Ryan Newman.

SHR promoted Daniel Knost from race engineer on the No. 39 to crew chief for the team's new No. 41 car, which will be driven by Kurt Busch.

Rodney Childers will serve as crew chief for Kevin Harvick's No. 4 team. Childress left Michael Waltrip's team and joined SHR in late October. Harvick is moving over to the team after driving for Richard Childress Racing in Sprint Cup since 2001.

Tony Gibson will continue to be the crew chief for Danica Patrick's No. 10 team.

Roush Fenway made numerous crew chief swaps within its organization. Crew chief Mike Kelley will be reunited with driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. at the No. 17 team in Sprint Cup after the two won back-to-back Nationwide championships from 2011-12. Kelley served in the role for the No. Nationwide 6 car, driven by Trevor Bayne, this year. Chad Norris will take over as crew chief for Bayne next season.

Seth Barbour will be Ryan Reed's crew chief for RFR's No. 16 Nationwide team, while Scott Graves will guide Chris Buescher's efforts in the No. 60 car.
