Back in April, Eric Reid held his breath for a moment waiting to hear whether the New Orleans Saints would draft him out of LSU.

They passed, and the standout safety wound up out West with the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers instead. He has emerged as a hard-hitting, playmaking rookie with five takeaways, and sure hopes a second concussion won't sideline him for Sunday's game at the Superdome against Drew Brees and Co.

Reid received 58 tickets for the game to accommodate all of the family and friends in his home state who want to see him play — a number larger than Reid expected but doable because many of his 49ers teammates didn't ask for their usual ticket allotment.

The Saints chose safety Kenny Vaccaro over Reid.
