FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Steven Jackson was looking forward to showing what he could do on a winning team, to really making his mark on the national stage.
It hasn't worked out that way.
Jackson is mired in the worst season on his decade-long career, and any hope he had of carrying the Atlanta Falcons to a Super Bowl title are long gone.
After missing four games with a hamstring injury, Jackson has been largely invisible since returning — 33 carries for 74 yards and two of the worst performances of his career. He ran for just 6 yards on 11 attempts against Arizona. Last weekend, he managed only 11 yards on nine carries in a loss to Seattle.
The slumping Falcons (2-7) travel to Tampa Bay to face the Buccaneers (1-8) on Sunday.
