Florida State backup quarterback Jacob Coker will undergo surgery on his knee Tuesday.

Coach Jimbo Fisher made the announcement Monday. He says the second-ranked Seminoles won't know how long Coker will be out until after surgery and they learn how much damage there is to the QB's meniscus.

Coker suffered the injury during the 59-3 win against Wake Forest. He's appeared in seven games in 2013 and has a 102.78 quarterback efficiency rating.

Jameis Winston and Coker were in competition for the starting job during training camp with Winston eventually becoming the starter. Coker could consider transferring after the season considering he'll be behind Winston as a junior and won't likely have an opportunity to start in Tallahassee until his senior season.

Coker is a three-star recruit from Mobile, Ala.
