Southeastern Louisiana has reached a three-year contract extension with coach Ron Roberts, who has the Lions in contention to win the Southland Conference.

Athletic director Jay Artigues says the extension, announced Thursday, is subject to approval by the University of Louisiana Board of Supervisors.

In his second season, Roberts has led the Lions to a 7-2 overall record and 4-0 mark in the Southland Conference with three games left.

Roberts joined Southeastern after a five-year stint at Division II Delta State in Cleveland, Miss.

In Roberts' first season, Southeastern was 5-6 overall with a 5-2 league mark.

The Lions, who play in the NCAA's Football Championship Subdivision, return to the field Saturday at Central Arkansas.
