Norfolk, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference said Wednesday it sent a letter of reprimand and fined Bethune-Cookman football coach Brian Jenkins for his public comments about the officials of his team's game against North Carolina Central last Saturday

Bethune-Cookman won the conference game, 38-14, despite receiving 25 penalties (a record for an FCS game) for 232 yards.

Jenkins violated the MEAC's bylaw on criticizing officials. It states that members of the coaching staffs, student-athletes or other representatives of participating institutions shall not make public statements critical of officiating in any MEAC contests or events.

"It is unfortunate that Coach Jenkins decided to violate the conference's policy on criticizing officials," MEAC commissioner Dennis Thomas said. "I hope that in the future that he will be in compliance with the policy."
