MOSCOW – The Russian soccer federation has ordered Spartak Moscow to play its next two home league matches behind closed doors following fan violence and the display of a swastika flag.
The club also was fined $18,500.
The Russia Cup game at Shinnik Yaroslavl this week was halted for about 30 minutes because of clashes that started in the visitors' stand. Police broke up the unrest with water cannons and arrested 78 people.
Shinnik, a second-tier club, has been ordered to play its next three home matches without spectators and fined $15,400 for failure to ensure security.
