London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Two of the top teams in the Premier League will square off at the Emirates on Saturday when Arsenal plays host to Liverpool.

The Gunners enter the weekend atop the Premier League table on 22 points from nine matches, followed closely by Liverpool and Chelsea on 20 points apiece.

A win for the visitors would be enough to see Liverpool leap-frog the Gunners, but Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is not being near-sighted in his approach.

"I believe we are in a good moment," Rodgers told reporters earlier in the week. "We have started the season as we would have wanted - strong, putting a marker down that we're going to be consistent and after that early period, we've been playing very well.

"I think that we can get better and we can improve. We've got a lot of young payers that are still developing and improving."

The strike partnership of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez has been a major contributing factor to the club's success thus far as the duo have combined produce 14 of Liverpool's 20 goals in league action.

And with both players under the age of 27, the future certainly looks bright at Anfield.

"That also goes for the front two, who everyone is talking about," Rodgers continued. "Daniel is 24 and he's improving all the time. With Luis Suarez, everyone talks about his goals and his work rate, but I've seen an improvement in his footballing ability and his maturity this year. So that really bodes well for us.

"We won't get carried away. We'll have to keep our concentration and continue to work very hard on the training field."

Liverpool enters Saturday's appetizing contest on the back of a 4-1 demolition of West Bromwich Albion while Arsenal escaped from Selhurst Park with a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace despite playing down a man for much of the second half.

It still might be a bit early to label Saturday's fixture a "six-pointer," but whichever side comes away from the clash on the short end of the stick will consider it a missed opportunity to stake its claim to the Premier League title.

Chelsea, meanwhile, also is vying for league silverware and enters the weekend in very good form. The Blues have won three straight Premier League contests and will look to extend that run with three points against Newcastle at St. James' Park on Saturday.

Manchester City and Manchester United have stuttered out of the gates in their respective bids to finish atop the table. Both sides have dropped three matches thus far, but they will look to inch closer to the Premier League summit on Saturday when the Citizens host Norwich City at the Etihad and the Red Devils head to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham.

Also on Saturday, Hull City will attempt to snap a two-game slide when it welcomes lowly Sunderland to the KC Stadium, Aston Villa heads to Upton Park to take on West Ham, Southampton looks to continue its impressive start to the season with a positive result at the Britannia against Stoke City and Crystal Palace aims to put an end to a horrid six-game losing run when it faces West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

Sunday's action will see one-loss Everton welcome Tottenham to Goodison Park and Cardiff City square off with Swansea City in a battle of the Premier League's two Welsh sides.
