The Cowboys are rallying around Tony Romo after another late-game mistake, his interception that spoiled the first 500-yard game in Dallas history.

Defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin gave an unsolicited defense of the quarterback after Dallas lost to Denver and Peyton Manning 51-48 when Danny Trevathan intercepted a pass in the final 2 minutes to put the Broncos in position for the winning field goal.

Kiffin and linebacker Sean Lee both said to put the loss "on me" after Romo threw for 506 yards and five touchdowns.

The Cowboys are playing Washington on Sunday night.

They lost a winner-take-all finale to the Redskins last season, with Romo throwing an interception when he had a chance to lead a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter.
