Leverkusen, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Bayern Munich only managed a 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena on Saturday but it was enough to send Pep Guardiola's side to the top of the Bundesliga table.
Toni Kroos got the visitors off the mark in the 29th minute, but Leverkusen got back on level terms almost instantaneously as Sidney Sam equalized in the 31st.
The result sees Bayern climb to 20 points on the season, bringing the reigning Bundesliga champions one point clear of Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund came into the weekend tied with Bayern for first place, but a 2-0 loss at Borussia Monchengladbach saw Jurgen Klopp's side drop to second place. Mats Hummels was sent off in the 80th minute of Dortmund's loss, which allowed Monchengladbach to get the victory through Max Kruse's penalty in the 81st and Raffael Araujo's goal five minutes later.

Schalke hopes that its slow start to the Bundesliga is in the rearview as the club ran out to a 4-1 defeat of 10-man Augsburg at the Veltins Arena on Saturday.
Sascha Molders had given Augsburg the lead in the 10th minute, but the visitors were reduced to 10 men when Ragnar Klavan was sent off five minutes later.
Schalke took advantage of the extra man as goals from Kevin-Prince Boateng and Maximilian Meyer, as well as a brace from Adam Szalai, gave the home side a comfortable victory.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga on Saturday, Maxim Choupo-Moting and Yunus Malli scored inside the final eight minutes to give Mainz a 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim, Martin Harnik and Nils Petersen exchanged first-half goals in Stuttgart's 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen, and Braunschweig claimed its first league victory of the season thanks to a 2-0 defeat of Wolfsburg.
