South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier says Connor Shaw will start at quarterback for the 13th-ranked Gamecocks against Kentucky on Saturday night.

Shaw was knocked out of South Carolina's 28-25 victory at UCF in the first quarter and spent the rest of the game on the sidelines with his right arm in a sling and ice bags on his right shoulder. Spurrier said Sunday he was told Shaw might miss two-to-three weeks with a shoulder sprain.

Spurrier said Wednesday that Shaw was throwing passes at practice Monday and has progressed strongly throughout the week. He says the senior QB looked good and would start under center against the Wildcats (1-3, 0-1 Southeastern Conference).

Shaw's fourth in SEC passing efficiency. He's thrown six touchdowns without an interception for the Gamecocks (3-1, 1-1).
