Paul George is staying in Indiana.

A person with knowledge of the deal says the forward agreed to a new long-term contract with the Pacers on Tuesday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the details. A news conference was scheduled for Wednesday.

George was the NBA's Most Improved Player last season and had made it clear he wanted to stay with the team that drafted him with the No. 8 overall pick in 2010.

He was scheduled to become a restricted free agent next summer when his rookie contract expired.

George has improved dramatically over each of his first three seasons, going from role player to regular starter to NBA All-Star last season.
