Rome, Italy – Roma maintained its perfect start to the Serie A season on Sunday by securing its biggest win of the campaign, a 2-0 derby victory over Lazio.
Federico Balzaretti broke a scoreless deadlock in the 63rd for Roma, while Adem Ljajic converted a penalty kick deep into stoppage time after Lazio's Andre Dias had been sent off nine minutes from time.
Roma had failed to beat Lazio in its last five attempts, including a 1-0 defeat in the Coppa Italia in May.
However, the Giallorossi moved to the top of the league with the win, handing Lazio its second defeat of the season.
Roma was fortunate not to go behind to an own goal early in the second half when a corner kick was redirected off his own crossbar by defender Leandro Castan.
Balzaretti clipped the post with a shot from 30 yards, but he found the net shortly after by volleying home Francesco Totti's corner kick.
Dias was then sent off in the 81st when he brought down Totti as the last man, and Ljajic sealed the win late on as he was brought down by Lazio's Cristian Ledesma and stepped to the spot to convert the penalty kick.
Napoli 2, AC Milan 1
Milan, Italy - Napoli made it four wins from four games in Serie A by notching a 2-1 win over AC Milan at the San Siro on Sunday.
Miguel Britos was on target for the visitors just six minutes into the match, while Gonzalo Higuain's third goal of the season arrived early in the second half to put Napoli up 2-0.
Mario Balotelli could have pulled a goal back for Milan in the 61st when he drew a foul on Napoli's Raul Albiol inside the penalty area, but his spot kick was saved by goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
Balotelli did find the net for Milan, however it wasn't until stoppage time, and he was sent off at the end of the match, capping a frustrating day for the Rossoneri.
The defeat leaves Milan with just four points from four games, and the team is already eight points adrift of the top spot in Serie A.
Juventus 2, Hellas Verona 1
Turin, Italy - Fernando Llorente's goal in first-half stoppage time clinched a 2-1 comeback win for Juventus against Hellas Verona on Sunday at Juventus Stadium.
Hellas has already beaten AC Milan this season, and the visitors were poised to pull off another upset when Fabrizio Cacciatore scored in the 36th minute from a header by Vangelis Moras.
But Carlos Tevez replied quickly for Juve when he got on the other end of a through ball from Leonardo Bonucci and to hammer a shot just underneath the crossbar that gave Hellas goalkeeper Rafael no chance.
Llorente was making his first start for Juventus since joining over the summer and he tallied the winning goal with a header from Arturo Vidal's cross.
Paul Pogba tried to add to the lead in the second half for Juve, but he saw a powerful shot beat the goalkeeper and come back off the crossbar.
Inter Milan 7, Sassuolo 0
Modena, Italy - Inter Milan continued its strong start in Serie A on Sunday by hammering Sassuolo, 7-0, at the Stadio Braglia.
Inter has now claimed 10 points from its first four games, and the points were never in doubt on Sunday as Rodrigo Palacio opened the scoring after seven minutes for the Nerazzurri.
The visitors were up 3-0 at halftime courtesy of Saphir Taider's 23rd-minute goal and an own goal from Sassuolo's Raffaele Pucino.
There wasn't much difference after the break either as Diego Milito scored twice for Inter, while Ricardo Alvarez and Esteban Cambiasso also found the net to complete the rout.
Sassuolo's time in the top flight so far has not gone well as the team has lost its first four games by a combined score of 15-1.
Fiorentina 2, Atalanta 0
Bergamo, Italy - Giuseppe Rossi continued his hot start for Fiorentina on Sunday as he scored the second goal in a 2-0 Viola win over struggling Atalanta.
Rossi has now tallied four goals in four games for Fiorentina, which has won three of its first four fixtures to sit two points off the top of Serie A.
Matias Fernandez got Fiorentina off the mark in the 41st minute when he reacted first to score on the rebound from Rafal Wolski's header, which struck the crossbar.
Rossi nearly doubled the lead early in the second half, but he made the most of his next opportunity, turning home a pass from Gonzalo Rodriguez.
Atalanta had no way back and slumped to its third defeat in four games.
Torino 2, Bologna 1
Bologna, Italy - Alessio Cerci's penalty kick in first-half stoppage time was the difference on Sunday as Torino claimed a 2-1 win at Bologna, which is still searching for its first victory of the campaign.
Danilo D'Ambrosio took advantage of a spill from Bologna goalkeeper Gianluca Curci to head his team in front in the second minute when the netminder was unable to hold a shot from Cerci.
Cesare Natali equalized for the home side in the 29th minute when his header was saved by Torino goalkeeper Daniele Padelli, only for Natali to follow up the play and score on the rebound.
Torino took the lead just before halftime when Francesco Della Rocca fouled Omar El Kaddouri inside the penalty area, allowing Cerci to score from the spot.
Bologna then had to play the entire second half with 10 men after Natali was sent off for dissent at halftime.
Catania 0, Parma 0
Catania, Italy - Catania and Parma are both still without a win after the two sides played to a 0-0 draw at a rain-soaked Angelo Massimino Stadium on Sunday.
Gonzalo Bergessio squandered a great chance for Catania in the second minute when he failed to hit the target from six yards, while Parma's Amauri was denied by a fine diving save from goalkeeper Mariano Andujar after the break.
The result snaps a three-match losing streak for Catania, which claimed its first point, while Parma is just one point better through four matches.
