Saint Etienne, France (SportsNetwork.com) - St. Etienne saw its lead at the Stade Geoffrey-Guichard erased on Friday as the home side suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss to lowly Toulouse.
Romain Hamouma had put St. Etienne in a comfortable position by scoring the lone goal of the first half in the 18th minute.
The home side looked likely to collect all three points until the 63rd minute when Olivier Blondel netted the equalizer, which spurred the visitors on to steal the win behind Issiaga Sylla's winner 12 minutes later.
It was Toulouse's first win of the season as the club improves to six points through six games.
St. Etienne remains on 12 points and figures to drop further behind in the title race given Sunday's massive fixture between Monaco and PSG.
Monaco enters the weekend atop Ligue 1 on 13 points, dropping points on just one occasion this term.
PSG, by comparison, has slipped up twice to stay two points back of the leaders, but Toulouse's victory opens the door for Laurent Blanc's men to climb to the summit of the French top flight with a victory over Monaco at the Parc des Princes on Sunday.
Prior to that massive clash, Lorient will face Bordeaux at the Stade du Moustoir, Nantes will travel to the Stade de Gerland to take on Lyon and Nice will welcome Valenciennes to the Allianz Riviera.
On Saturday, Marseille will hope to snap a two-game winless run when it heads to the Stade Armand-Cesari-Furiani to face Bastia, Montpellier heads to the Parc des Sports to take on Evian, Lille makes its way to the Stade Bonal for its meeting with Sochaux, Reims welcomes newly-promoted Guingamp to the Stade Auguste Delaune II and Rennes takes on Ajaccio at the Stade de la Route de Lorient.
