Drew MacIntyre was sharp in making 13 saves, but the Toronto Maple Leafs lost 3-2 in a shootout to a Philadelphia Flyers split squad in preseason action on Monday night.

MacIntyre has played in only four regular-season NHL games — most recently Nov. 25, 2011, for Buffalo. He could be a potential No. 3 goalie option for Toronto behind Jonathan Bernier and James Reimer.

MacIntyre made an impressive pad save on a 2-on-1 drive by Scott Laughton and stopped Marcel Noebels. He also denied Adam Hall on a semi-breakaway.

Bernier, making his first appearance with the Maple Leafs since being acquired from Los Angeles, allowed one goal on 16 shots. Former Toronto defenseman Luke Schenn scored on him with a deflected shot.

Bruno Gervais scored the tying goal in the third, and Tye McGinn netted the shootout winner for the Flyers.

James van Riemsdyk, acquired from Philadelphia in the Schenn trade, and Jamie Devane scored for Toronto.
