Noh increases Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship lead

Columbus, OH – Seung-Yul Noh carded a 1-under 70 on Saturday to add to his lead at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship, the third event of the Web.com Tour Finals.

Noh finished three rounds at Ohio State University Golf Club's Scarlet Course at 10-under-par 203. The South Korean is seeking his first career win on the Web.com Tour.

"Yesterday the wind was hard, but it was really consistent," said Noh. "It was easier to control the distance because it was consistent. Today the wind was swirling and then came up a little bit and died a little bit. It wasn't consistent and made things tougher on the second shot."

Jim Herman tied the low round of the day with a 4-under 67 to jump into a share of second place with Tyrone Van Aswegen (68) at 7-under 206. Miguel Angel Carballo (69) is alone in fourth at 6-under.

Alex Aragon (68) and Chesson Hadley (73), who have each collected a win this season, are joined by Kelly Kraft (71) in fifth at minus-5.

Noh entered the third round with a 2-stroke lead over Hadley, but Hadley tripped to a double-bogey 6 at the second hole to fall to 5-under and drop four shots off the pace, handing second place to Aragon and Kraft at minus-6.

Hadley bounced back with a birdie at the fourth to move back into a share of second place, but another double bogey at the seventh dropped him out of contention.

Noh, meanwhile, recorded birdies at the fourth and sixth around a bogey at the fifth to move to 10-under and grab a 4-stroke lead over the field.

He would stretch his lead up to five strokes with another gain at the ninth, and no one was able to get closer than four strokes from there until a bogey at the 15th dropped Noh back to 10-under.

That placed him three strokes ahead of Van Aswegen and Herman, but they would get no closer as Noh parred his final three holes to maintain his 3-stroke lead entering the final round.

"Same plan for tomorrow," Noh said. "I'm thinking I will try for a five or seven-stroke lead. I'm thinking I'm playing a good game for tomorrow because just one more day and then go home."

NOTES: Noh does have a win on the European Tour, capturing the title at the 2010 Maybank Malaysian Open ... The second round concluded Saturday morning after being suspended due to darkness Friday night ... The top 25 from the regular season tour money list already have their PGA Tour cards for next season, but are still playing for priority ranking. The next available 25 from the finals series money list will also earn their PGA Tour cards for next season ... Noh and Herman are trying to regain their PGA Tour cards after finishing 160th and 139th, respectively, in the PGA Tour's FedExCup standings.
