Trail Blazers sign Howell

Portland, OR – The Portland Trail Blazers signed rookie forward Richard Howell on Friday.

Howell averaged 12.7 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists during his senior 2012-13 season at North Carolina State. He earned First Team All-ACC honors for the Wolfpack, who were bounced in the second round of the NCAA Tournament by Temple.

He went undrafted during the 2013 NBA Draft, but did sign with the Denver Nuggets for the NBA Summer League. Howell played in three games and averaged 1.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks.
