Blues, D Alex Pietrangelo agree on 7-year contract

The St. Louis Blues and defenseman Alex Pietrangelo agreed on a seven-year contract, ending a brief holdout.

The deal was announced Friday, the day after the first practice of training camp.

The 23-year-old Pietrangelo led Blues defensemen with 24 points with five goals and 19 assists and was among the league leaders with an average of 25 per minutes per game.

Pietrangelo was the fourth overall pick of the 2008 draft and has been a regular the last three seasons.
