The New York Giants have reportedly reached an agreement to sign running back Brandon Jacobs to a one-year deal.

NJ.com is reporting the signing, citing a person with knowledge of the deal.

The Giants lost running back Andre Brown during the final pre-season game for the bulk of the season with a broken left leg and Week 1 starter David Wilson fumbled twice in New York's 36-31 loss to Dallas.

Jacobs, 31, spent the first seven years of his career with the Giants, accumulating 4,849 yards and 56 touchdowns on 1,078 carries. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers for the 2012 season, appearing in just two games with five carries and seven yards.

The Giants released defensive end Adewale Ojomo earlier in the day to make room on the 53-man roster.
