No. 14 Oklahoma has a new starting quarterback.

Coach Bob Stoops said Monday that junior Blake Bell will start on Saturday against Tulsa. He says Trevor Knight suffered a bruised knee late in the first half of Oklahoma's 16-7 win over West Virginia and will miss one to two weeks.

Stoops also says sophomore quarterback Kendal Thompson, who suffered a fractured foot on the first day of preseason practice, has been cleared to return to practice.

Knight won the starting job over Bell, but he has completed just 43.8 percent of his passes for 205 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions.

Bell is 3 for 6 for 38 yards. He has been used as a short-yardage specialist the last two seasons while he was backing up Landry Jones.
