Montreal Impact forward Marco Di Vaio was named the Major League Soccer Player of the Week on Monday for Week 28 of the 2013 season.

The Italian Designated Player scored a pair of goals on Sunday to lead the Impact to a 4-2 victory over the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium.

It was the 38-year-old's third brace in four games and the result lifted the Impact into a three-way tie for the top spot in the Eastern Conference with Red Bull New York and Sporting Kansas City, each on 45 points.

Di Vaio also reclaimed the lead in MLS's Golden Boot race with 17 goals this season, two clear of Chicago's Mike Magee.

The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, and radio media.
