Rookie linebacker Manti Te'o has been ruled out of Monday night's opener against the Houston Texans with what the team has called a sprained right foot.

Te'o hasn't practice since hurting his foot in the exhibition opener against Seattle on Aug. 8. He has had his foot in a walking boot almost constantly since then.

Two days after Te'o was hurt, rookie coach Mike McCoy said only that the linebacker would be out for the following week. It turns out he missed the following three exhibitions and now will miss Monday night's game.

Bront Bird is expected to start in Te'o's spot.

Also Saturday, the Chargers listed wide receiver Malcom Floyd (knee), cornerback Johnny Patrick (concussion), defensive end Corey Liuget (shoulder), wide receiver Eddie Royal (bruised lung, concussion), safety Brandon Taylor (knee) and cornerback Shareece Wright (chest) as probable.
