Bryce Petty threw for 338 yards and two touchdowns, Lache Seastrunk ran for 150 yards with three scores and Baylor's first-team offense had 576 total yards in only 11 minutes with the ball as the 23rd-ranked Bears beat Buffalo 70-13 Saturday.
The starters for the Bears (2-0) had eight touchdowns in their nine drives. The only non-scoring driving was when they had the ball at the end of the first half.
Baylor finished with a school-record 781 total yards and topped the 69 points scored a week earlier in what had been the most for the Bears since 1929.
Alex Neutz had six catches for a career-high 197 for Buffalo (0-2).
Petty completed 13 of 16 passes, and two of his incompletions were balls caught but ruled out of bounds. He also ran for a score.
Tevin Reese had four catches for 130 yards with a touchdown. All of Seastrunk's 17 carries came before halftime in his school-record sixth 100-yard rushing game in a row.
Bears linebacker Bryce Hager had a rumbling, stumbling 91-yard touchdown when Buffalo quarterback Joe Licata was sacked and fumbled.
A week after compiling 692 total yards in a 69-3 opening victory over Wofford of the FCS, the Bears had 501 yards by halftime against a Buffalo team playing consecutive games against Top 25 teams for the first time.
Buffalo was down 23-0 at third-ranked Ohio State a week earlier before losing 40-20.
Baylor became the first FBS team since Oklahoma in 2008 with 28 first-quarter points in consecutive games. And the Bears added 28 more in the second quarter for a 56-13 halftime lead.
Petty played only the first Baylor series after halftime, and the Bears went 80 yards in five plays over 64 seconds. There was a 40-yard pass to tight end Jerod Monk and four carries by Shock Linwood, including his second scoring run, a 6-yarder.
By that point, Baylor had run 46 plays for 576 yards while having the ball only 11:03. Six of the touchdown drives by the first team lasted 1:16 or less, and the longest was 1:54.
Buffalo started the game with some trickery, a flea-flicker on the opening play when Neutz made a 54-yard catch despite being knocked down and drawing a pass-interference penalty. Branden Oliver's 1-yard scoring run gave the Bulls a 7-0 lead — that lasted less than a minute.
Petty threw a short pass to Tevin Reese on Baylor's fourth play. Reese caught the ball short of midfield, then raced past Naaja Johnson untouched for a 61-yard touchdown.
After Buffalo punted on the next drive, Baylor needed less than a minute to get another score and go ahead to stay. Reese started the drive with a 44-yard catch down the right sideline and Seastrunk had consecutive 14-yard runs before Linwood's 3-yard TD.
When Neutz caught a 4-yard TD pass with 2:11 left in the first quarter, the Bulls were within 21-13.
But just more than a minute later, Antwan Goodley caught a short pass from Petty. Goodley, who had four catches for 124 yards, split between two defenders to make the catch and then raced by two more for an 83-yard score.
The defense got in on the big plays when Sam Holl sacked Licata. Hager scooped up the fumble and took off, stumbling but keeping his balance after a couple of Buffalo players made diving attempts to tackle him. After rumbling another 60 yards, he made a cut to elude receiver Fred Lee and scored to make it 49-13.
Seastrunk added a 33-yard score two plays after the Bulls failed to pick up first down on a fake punt.
Baylor didn't punt until the second drive of the second half, after the starters had left the game. But the backups notched a touchdown of their own when Seth Russell threw a 53-yard score to Jay Lee in the fourth quarter.
