Bronx, NY – A preliminary CT scan came back negative on the troublesome left ankle of Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, who was removed from Saturday's 13-9 loss to the Boston Red Sox.
After recording an RBI single in the sixth inning, Jeter was lifted for a pinch-runner. Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he "didn't like the way he was running."
The Yankees seem concerned about Jeter's surgically repaired ankle and are sending the results of the CT scan to Dr. Robert Anderson, who performed Jeter's ankle surgery in October, as an extra precaution.
The 39-year-old has been limited to just 17 games this season, slowed by two fractures to the ankle since October. He was additionally hampered by right calf injuries.
He missed the first three months of the season because of the complications with the ankle and is batting .190 with a home run and seven RBI.
