Tigers' Victor Martinez named AL Player of the Month

New York, NY – New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Detroit Tigers first baseman and designated hitter Victor Martinez was named the American League Player of the Month on Wednesday.

Martinez hit .350 in 31 games during the month with six home runs, 30 RBI and a .442 on-base percentage.

He drew 19 walks, struck out just seven times and scored 20 runs on the way to earning his first monthly honor.
