The Houston Dynamo and Chicago Fire played to a 1-1 draw at Toyota Park on Sunday, a result that does not do either side much help in their respective quests for postseason soccer.

The Fire had jumped out to a first-half lead when Mike Magee's cross in the 37th minute was turned into the net by Bobby Boswell's glancing header.

Chicago looked set to close out the match for all three points, but Houston earned a share of the spoils in the 90th minute when Adam Moffat collected Corey Ashe's lay-off and blasted a rocket past Sean Johnson.

Houston (10-8-7) will be pleased to salvage something from the match, but it must go down as a missed opportunity to climb into a postseason slot with all three points. The Dynamo exit the weekend slate in sixth place in the Eastern Conference on 37 points, level with the New England Revolution but just outside the playoff picture on goal difference.

Chicago (10-10-5) trails Houston by two points, leaving the Eastern Conference wide open - only seven points separate first place from the seventh-place Fire.
