A good start and a great finish was enough for Sergio Garcia to take the lead Saturday in the Deutsche Bank Championship.

On another day of soft conditions and plenty of birdies on the TPC Boston, Garcia had five birdies in seven holes, and then made an 18-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole for a 7-under 64. That gave him a one-shot lead over Roberto Castro (65) and Henrik Stenson (63).

Tiger Woods made a 35-foot birdie putt on the last hole for a 67 and was six shots back. The wild ride came from Phil Mickelson, who at times was closer to hitting Rhode Island than hitting a fairway. Mickelson made a number of great escapes, and finished with two birdies for a 71. He was only five behind.
