The Montreal Impact and Philadelphia Union combined to score eight goals in their last meeting, but there was nothing between the two clubs on Saturday as they played to a 0-0 draw at PPL Park.

Montreal emerged victorious from the Stade Saputo on May 25, taking a 5-3 win in the first of three meetings between the two sides this season.

But Saturday's scoreless draw offered little in the way of entertainment as scoring chances were at a premium throughout.

Jack McInerney was closest to breaking the deadlock as he nearly scored in the 77th minute, but the Union striker sent his glancing header from Fabinho's cross just wide of goal from close range.

The result leaves Montreal at the top of the Eastern Conference on 42 points for the season, three points better than Philadelphia.
