Redshirt junior Andy Vailas will be the University of New Hampshire's starting quarterback when the 10th-ranked Wildcats open their season at Central Michigan on Sept. 7.

Head coach Sean McDonnell named Vailas as the starter over Sean Goldrich, a redshirt sophomore. Both quarterbacks played extensively last season when UNH went 8-4 and reached the FCS playoffs for a ninth straight season.

Vailas completed 126-of-217 pass attempts for 1,558 yards and 18 touchdowns with three interceptions. The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder also was the Wildcats' third-leading rusher with 451 yards on 101 carries, scoring six touchdowns.
