France midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has joined Monaco after the Ligue 1 side agreed to pay his $26-million release clause with Sevilla, it was announced Friday.

The 20-year-old, who signed with Sevilla from Lens last summer, is an up-and- coming talent who has been called up by France boss Didier Deschamps for World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Jordan in September.

Kondogbia has joined Monaco on a five-year deal, following the likes of Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho, James Rodriguez and Jeremy Toulalan to make the move to the Stade Louis II this summer.
