The Cleveland Indians released pitcher Brett Myers on Thursday.

Myers had been on the disabled list since April 19 with right elbow issues.

The right-hander signed a one-year, $7 million deal with a 2014 team option worth up to $8 million in January. The option could have vested had Myers logged 200 innings.

Over four starts this season, the 33-year-old was 0-3 with an 8.02 earned run average.

Myers is 97-96 over 381 career appearances (252 starts) with the Philadelphia Phillies (2002-2009), Houston Astros (2010-2011, 2012), Chicago White Sox (2012) and Cleveland Indians.
