The Arizona Diamondbacks activated infielder Eric Chavez and catcher Miguel Montero from the 15-day disabled list on Monday.

Chavez landed on the DL on Aug. 10 due to hip and knee injuries, while Montero had been sidelined late July due to a balky back.

The 36-year-old Chavez was batting .299 with nine home runs and 40 RBI prior to heading to the DL.

Montero, 30, has hit .228 with nine homers and 34 RBI through 92 games this season.

To make room for Chavez and Montero on the roster, Arizona optioned infielder Matt Davidson and catcher Tuffy Gosewisch to Triple-A Reno.

Davidson was recalled from Reno when Chavez was placed on the DL and batted .179 with two RBI over 12 games in first big league action.

Gosewisch made his major league debut on Aug. 1 and batted .185 with one RBI in eight games in place of Montero.
