Owings Mills, MD – The Baltimore Ravens cut veteran tight end Visanthe Shiancoe and 11 other players on Sunday.
The Ravens brought in Shiancoe at the end of July after starting tight end Dennis Pitta suffered a season-ending hip injury.
Baltimore decided to keep veteran Dallas Clark over Shiancoe, who saw limited action for the New England Patriots last year but recorded 2,677 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns over nine seasons with the New York Giants (2003-06) and Minnesota Vikings (2007-11).
The Ravens also cut wide receivers Tommy Streeter, Rashad Carter and Gerrard Sheppard, running back Damien Berry, offensive linemen Jack Cornell, Ramon Harewood and David Mims, linebackers Bryan Hall and Meshak Williams, defensive back Moe Lee and defensive end Will Pericak.
Additionally, the team signed quarterback Dayne Crist and placed second-year linebacker Adrian Hamilton on injured reserve with a wrist injury.
Hamilton played in Baltimore's final two regular-season games last season. Meanwhile, Crist was likely signed due to backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor's concussion tests after Thursday's game.
