The New York Jets' quarterback competition took another turn during Saturday night's preseason game against the New York Giants.

After rookie quarterback Geno Smith threw three interceptions over three- plus quarters, Mark Sanchez appeared to hurt his right shoulder in the fourth.

Two drives into his evening, Sanchez took a big hit from Giants defensive tackle Marvin Austin and ended the play on the ground holding his shoulder.

Sanchez was taken for X-rays, but Jets coach Rex Ryan said after the game that he didn't know the results. Sanchez led the Jets to an easy 37-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.

Smith, the rookie second-round pick from West Virginia, completed 16-of-30 passes for 199 yards and one touchdown. He sat last week with an ankle injury.
