The Pittsburgh Steelers have acquired running back Felix Jones from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for linebacker Adrian Robinson.

Jones signed with the Eagles in May after spending his first five NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and will join a Pittsburgh team in need of backfield help.

The Steelers could be without rookie running back Le'Veon Bell for an extended period of time because of a mid-foot sprain. The injury will not require surgery, but Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was unsure about a timetable for Bell's return.

Jones was selected by the Cowboys with the 22nd overall pick of the 2008 NFL Draft and the Arkansas product started 23 of the 64 games he played in Dallas.

A triple threat as a runner, receiver and kick returner, Jones has amassed 2,728 rushing yards with 11 touchdowns, 1,062 receiving yards and three scores to go along with a 24.0-yard average on kickoff returns with a TD.

Robinson is entering his second NFL season after signing with Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent in 2012. The Temple product appeared in 12 games on special teams as a rookie last season.
