The U.S. Ski Team says women's ski jump world champion Sarah Hendrickson has injured her right knee during training in Germany and will fly back home.

The team says in a statement Wednesday that Hendrickson hurt her knee during a training jump in Obersdorf, but did not give any details on the severity of the injury. The team says she'll fly back to the U.S. on Friday for "further medical evaluation in Utah."

The 19-year-old Hendrickson, of Salt Lake City, is one of the gold-medal favorites when women's ski jumping makes its Olympic debut in Sochi, Russia. She beat Japanese star Sara Takanashi to take gold at the world championships, although she lost a season-long battle with her main rival for the overall World Cup title.
