Philadelphia, PA – Phillies starter John Lannan, who is currently serving his second stint on the disabled list, may not take the field for the remainder of the season.
On Tuesday, CSN Philly quoted a report from team assistant general manager Scott Proefrock that said Lannan has a ruptured tendon in his left knee. Proefrock added that Lannan will seek a second opinion from Dr. Neil ElAttrache in Los Angeles.
The Phils placed Lannan on the 15-day disabled list last Friday, two days after the 28-year-old tossed only 1 1/3 innings against the Atlanta Braves before leaving with what the team has diagnosed as left knee tendinosis.
The southpaw, in his first year with the Phillies, missed two months earlier this season with a strained quadriceps tendon.
Lannan has gone 3-6 with a 5.33 ERA in 14 outings.
