Detroit Red Wings center Gustav Nyquist has agreed to a two-year contract.

Financial terms of the deal for the restricted free agent were not disclosed, but the Detroit Free Press has reported it to be worth $1.9 million.

Nyquist appeared in 22 games during the shortened 2013 season and posted three goals with three assists for six points. He made his NHL debut in 2011-12 and notched a goal with six assists in 18 games.

The native of Sweden, who will turn 24 next month, was selected by Detroit in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He played collegiately at the University of Maine and was a Hobey Baker Award finalist as the NCAA's top player in 2010.
